The Miracle of Easter – The Resurrection of Jesus

EGGS

The resurrection of Christ is the most significant, if not most important miracle of the Christian faith.  His resurrection showed people that the Gospel message Jesus came with was real and that God has absolute power over life and death.

Apart from all the prophecy concerning the coming of Jesus, there is overwhelming historical evidence about the resurrection of Christ recorded in the bible.

Roman guards were placed in front of the tomb to make sure that nobody steals the body.  Breaking of the seal on the tomb that stood for the power and authority of the Roman Empire was punishable by crucifixion upside down.

“Take a guard,’ Pilate answered, ‘Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.’ So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard” (ref.1, Matthew 27:62-66).

  1. The empty tomb John 20
  2. Large stone removed from the cave entrance John 20:1
  3. Grave clothes left behind
  4. Jesus appearances too many people including the doubting Thomas and to the two men on the walk to Emmaus.
  5. Over 500 witnesses
  6. He also appeared to those who were hostile and unconvinced.

Bible verses on the Resurrection of Christ

Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;  John 11:25

He says, “I am the way, the truth and the life and nobody goes to the father except through me”.  John 14:6

Based on the evidence above, Jesus is alive and he’s offering a relationship with God.

In John 3:16, we learn that God loves us all and his gift to mankind is Jesus Christ.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, for who so ever believes in him may not perish but have eternal life.”

Prayer is simply talking with God.   Ask him into your life today.

A Prayer of Faith.

Almighty God, I believe that your son Jesus lived sinless and died for me on the cross as the lamb who takes away the sins of the world.  Come into my life and make me the person you want me to be.  Amen.
