Advice For New Students From aifc Students & Graduates

Before starting a course,  advice and recommendations from current and former students is usually something most of us want to learn. So we recently asked on Facebook, “As a graduate or current student of aifc, what piece of advice would you give a new student?”

Here are their responses.

Shivon Barresi
Persevere – you won’t regret it!

Patsy O’Brien
Thanks for the constant help and encouragement Shivon.  Be prepared to be stretched and challenged and see the awesome work of the Lord in your own life even while you are learning to reach out and help others. So worth it!

Brad Carter
Enjoy the ride, you’ll learn a lot, be challenged, but rewarded.

Danielle Marie Schimke
Practice good time management, including where and when you are most productive and work around that.

Mairi Girgis
Work on great, healthy boundaries both personally and professionally.

Jill Magnussen
You’ll never feel fully ready to start counselling but step out believing God will continue to help you and flow through you as you obey Him. There is always so much more to learn.

Karin Frey
You can’t fail!!

Marissa Francis
Connect with others to create a supportive network. And have fun.

Bthl Ignacio Canabo
Depend on the grace of God and ask help to the Holy Spirit when you feel stuck. Always remember you’ll get through it and have an attitude of perseverance. Stay on it even if it gets harder and never quit. Always finished what you have started.

Paul Ruth Killingback
Get yourself organised then hang on tight and enjoy the ride.

Indi Leigh
Don’t give up. If God called you to it, he will carry you to the end. Ask if you need help. Use your time wisely. Don’t just go through the motions, ask the Holy Spirit to help and guide you. You will grow and change if you do. Good on you for stepping out. You’ve Got this, because God’s got you.

Indi Leigh
Oh and take sun or another day if necessary off. Don’t study every day of the week.
