The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ

In John 1:1-5  we learn that Jesus came from heaven.

The Word Became Flesh  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”.

Prior to the crucifixion in Gethsemane he prayed to God asking him to remove the mission he had to accomplish.  Surrendering to God’s will even though knew what was was going to happen, Jesus obediently went like a lamb to the slaughter to be crucified.

Luke 22:44  – “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground”.

Mark 14:36  – “…Going a little farther, He fell to the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour would pass from Him. “Abba, Father, He said, “all things are possible for You. Take this cup from Me. Yet not what I will, but what You will.” Then Jesus returned and found them sleeping. “Simon, are you asleep?” He asked, “Were you not able to keep watch for one hour?…”

Jesus knew that Judas would betray him.

John 6:70-1 – Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.” He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray him.

The Crucifixion
At this, they shouted, “Away with Him! Away with Him! Crucify Him!” “Shall I crucify your King?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” replied the chief priests. Then Pilate handed Jesus over to be crucified, and the soldiers took Him away. Carrying His own cross, He went out to The Place of the Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha.…
