Exciting Updates: AIFC Aligning with New National Standards

At AIFC, we’re reaching an exciting milestone in our journey of providing Christ-centred counselling education. We’ve always believed in equipping our students with the skills they need to transform lives and communities, and now we’re taking another step forward.
The counselling profession in Australia is evolving, with new National Standards for Counsellors and Psychotherapists being introduced. These standards aren’t just bureaucratic requirements – they’re a testament to how our field is maturing and gaining recognition. As your training provider, we’re at the forefront of these changes.

What’s Changing?

These new standards are about ensuring counselling services across Australia are consistently excellent. They set clear expectations for:

  • What makes a qualified counsellor
  • How counselling should be practised
  • The ethical framework we work within
  •

    What This Means for You

If you’re studying with us (or thinking about it), here’s the good news:

    1. Your Qualification Just Got Stronger: Our courses already set a high bar, but now they’ll align with these national benchmarks. That means you’ll have credentials recognised Australia-wide when you graduate.
    2. Best of Both Worlds: We keep our unique Christ-centred approach while incorporating these professional standards. You’ll graduate with both spiritual depth and professional excellence.
    3. Ready for Tomorrow: The standards bring in current best practices, so you’ll be equipped to handle today’s challenges while staying true to biblical principles.
    4. Christian Counselling Gets Recognition: These standards help us showcase how faith-based approaches can effectively address mental health and relationship challenges.

Your Studies Won’t Skip a Beat

Don’t worry – these changes won’t disrupt your learning. You might notice some course materials being refreshed or new resources being added, but we’ll keep you in the loop every step of the way.

    Be Part of the Journey

Want to make the most of these changes?

  • Keep an eye on your course updates.
  • Remember that your qualification now meets national benchmarks.
  • Share your thoughts with us – we value your perspective.
  •
This is more than just meeting standards – it’s about being better equipped to help others. Whether helping someone through a crisis, supporting couples, or working with families, you’ll know you’re bringing professional excellence and Christ’s love to every session.
