Remembering What God has Done For us

In a recent Devotional sent to aifc on the 11th Day of the 11th month for Remembrance Day, aifc Regional Director, Susan Daniel, reminded us of how we are called to remember the things that God has done for us.

Scripture encourages us to live in remembrance.

Be careful not to forget the Lord, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. Deuteronomy 6:12 NLT

Remember the former things, those of long ago;
I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me.

Isaiah 46:9 NIVUK

I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
I will consider all your works
and meditate on all your mighty deeds.’

Psalm 77:11-12 NIVUK

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.’  Luke 22:19 NIVUK

There are times in life where we can feel totally overlooked, forgotten, perhaps even forsaken. This word of the Lord to Israel is the word of the Lord still today.

But Zion has said, “Yahweh has forsaken me.
My Lord has forgotten me—I’m all alone.”
Yahweh responds, “But how could a loving mother forget her nursing child
and not deeply love the one she bore?
Even if a there is a mother who forgets her child,
I could never, no never, forget you.
Can’t you see?
I have carved your name on the palms of my hands!
Your walls are always my concern.

Isaiah 49:15-16 TPT

During difficult times, seek the Lord, remember what God has done for us throughout history, on the Cross at Calvary and for his provision with answers to prayer. Draw deeper into God’s word. Remember and give thanks.

Biblical Hope Is Not Positive Thinking With a Bible Verse There are moments in the Christian community that are well-intentioned and yet somehow wounding.
