Generosity Is Good For The Soul

There are at least five great qualities generous people possess such as; love, selflessness, altruism, optimism and the ability to count their blessings.

Dr Caroline Leaf tweeted, “Research confirms that acts of generosity actually change the brain for the better, increasing our peace, happiness, health & intelligence!”

The body has a biochemical reaction when a person does act of Altruism, releasing anti-inflammatory hormones that work as a natural pain killer.  Generous givers and regular volunteers are thought to have better health than those that don’t practice it.

A “Helpers High”, a term used to describe a euphoric feeling that happens following an act of kindness or generosity.  We feel fulfilled and energised as these acts of generosity, kindness and giving can activate reward centres of the brain.

Ian MacMillan’s act of generosity was caught on camera.  See what happens next.

We aren’t to brag or boast about the good deeds we do..

Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honoured by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,” Matthew 6:1-3

Giving from the heart of generosity without expecting anything in return promotes joy and is an expression of love.

Being thankful means being good stewards all he God has given us. Bless others from your ‘lack of’ and also from your ‘abundance.’ Giving also frees the mind from material things by putting the flesh aside and freeing us up to walk in the riches of His glory.

Spiritual Formation, Fear, and Following God’s Call

January 24, 2026 | Faith

Often, the desire for change is present long before action follows. People recognise patterns that are no longer life-giving. They notice recurring struggles, emotional reactions, or relational…
