16 Fun Boredom Busting Ideas To Keep Kids Busy

Summer time is great for families with trips to the beach, the pools, barbecues, picnics and various outdoor activities.  Kids need to get use the abundance in energy they naturally have.  So these school holidays keep them occupied and busy doing the things they’ll enjoy.

Below is a list of the usual fun things kids like to do during the school holidays

1. Experience a Theme Park

Thrilling water rides and tonnes to do with various water slides, wave pools and they cater for the really little kids at theme parks.  Food can be purchased from their canteens as most won’t allow food to be brought in from elsewhere.  Check with the theme park before your visit if you have special dietary needs.  List of Theme Parks from GoAustralia.com.

2. Go to the Movies

3. Play Ten Pin Bowling

4. Discover a Museum

6. Plan Play-date Activities

Play dates help to build kids relationships with their peers.  Ask your child what friends they’d like to invite over. 7. Hit the Beach

If you and your kids have done all of the above, the list below may just be your go to list for new ideas to keep them busy.

  1. Movie Marathon – Don’t just watch one movie, have a movie marathon with healthy foods and drinks.
  2. Water Fight – Have a water fight with the kids. Get the sunscreen on and put away anything you don’t want to get wet prior to commencing. Have towels handy and anything else you may need, such as a change of clothes for each one ready,  and the mop nearby.
  3. Lego Building – Lego is always fun for kids. Make it even more fun by having a Lego building competition with prizes for everyone.
  4. Bug catching – playing in the back yard is always fun for kids. Bug catching is even better.  Provide them with containers with lids and make sure they know what not to touch.
  5. Cupcake Decorating – Hold a cupcake or cake decorating competition.
  6. Fashion Parade – let the kids have a fashion parade wearing the clothes in your wardrobe
  7. Craft Day – Have a craft day where the kids can make useful things for decorating their bedrooms.
  8. Indoor Cubby House – Throw old sheets and blankets over a dining table to create an indoor cubby house.
