Dr. Gary Smalley

World Renowned marriage and relationship expert and public speaker Gary Smalley who authored award winning and best-selling books on family relationships and marriage from a Christian perspective, has gone to meet our Heavenly Father on March 6 2016, aged 75. He was married 52 years to Norma and had three children, Kari, Greg and Michael.

According to Smalley’s Facebook Page, “he authored and co-authored over 60 best-selling, award-winning books along with several popular films and videos, which have sold over 12 million copies.”

Gary’s books that have won him the Gold Medallion Award for excellence in literature are: ‘The Blessing’ and ‘The Two Sides of Love.’ ‘The Language of Love’ was co-written with John Trent and won the Angel Award for the best contribution to family life.

Dr. Smalley dedicated his life to God and to counselling numerous couples to help them reignite and save their marriages. He was a Baptist Christian, the president and founder of the Smalley Relationship Centre and also a regular speaker on Focus on the family. He held countless two day seminars and has personally interviewed couples asking them two questions, “What is it that strengthens your relationships and what weakens them?”

Gary had appeared on many television programs such as, Oprah Winfrey, Larry King Live, Extra, NBC Today Show as well as appearing on many radio programs.

Focus on the Family, Jim Daly wrote on his Facebook Page about Dr. Smalley, “He was surrounded by his family, including his son and my Focus colleague, Greg, who had just returned hours earlier from a speaking engagement about marriage.”

“How fitting, I thought, that on the very day Gary was to receive his eternal reward, his son was picking up where his father had left off, loving and ministering to Christian couples by helping to enrich their marital relationships.”

The legacy he leaves behind is that Gary and Norma’s work will live on in his children. He will be best remembered for being passionate for his calling of healing marriages.

Rest in Peace Dr. Gary Smalley

2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
