Faith is The Hope for Living – Devotional

Susan Daniel’s devotional teaches us that Faith is the hope for things yet unseen, allowing us to weather the storms of life.

Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen.

And without faith living within us, it would be impossible to please God. For we come to God in faith knowing that He is real and that He rewards the faith of those who give all their passion and strength into seeking Him. Hebrews 11: 1 & 6 TPT

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. 1 Chronicles 16:11 NIVUK

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33 NKJV

The news keeps us up to date with bushfires, hailstorms, mighty winds, displaced people, droughts, suicide rates, moral decline, riots, hunger, wars, religious freedoms that are not so free and much more. Add to this what is happening behind our closed doors where people are in debt, in pain, unwell, struggling with addictions, lonely, abused, grieving, disconnected, mentally unwell, neglected… There are also people experiencing joy, abundance, excellent health, happiness, peace, satisfaction and more.

In each experience, there can be a tendency to have our eyes drift from the Prize. Distracted, our focus can easily become consumed and we lose sight of the One who is with us through it all, the good, great and awful. And still, He is a waiting Father, calling us to turn to Him, to lift our eyes from our circumstances and seek Him. The God who gave His only Son; the God who is the living Word; this God who has the whole world in His hands – loves us; His eye is upon us and He is for us not against us. His plans will not be thwarted – let’s join together and seek Him that we might see with His eternal perspective in today and in our circumstances.

Prayer

Our Father, dwelling in the heavenly realms, may the glory of your Name be the centre on which our lives turn. Manifest your kingdom realm, and cause your every purpose to be fulfilled on earth, just as it is fulfilled in heaven. We acknowledge you as our Provider of all we need each day. Forgive us the wrongs we have done as we ourselves release forgiveness to those who have wronged us. Rescue us every time we face tribulation and set us free from evil. For you are the King who rules with power and glory forever. Amen.’ Matthew 6:9-13 TPTs

I pray you will know His grace and peace in this day.

October 28, 2021 | Faith, Mental Health, Wellbeing

Where can we turn to? Where can we look during times when we are being bombarded relentlessly, it seems. I'd like to suggest three places to look, if you will, all drawn from God’s Word that will hopefully enable us to move forward even when our faith is under pressure.

Faith Under Pressure: Do you know who you are?

November 23, 2021 | Faith

Who are you? A simple question to answer, or so it would seem. Responses will be varied depending on where you find yourself in this season of your life. Very often, one answers this question from the premise of a role. I am a husband. I am a wife. I am a mum. I am…

Wait. An Advent Reflection.

December 9, 2021 | Faith

Near the heart of the Christmas / Advent Story is the expectation that God is going to offer a gift. The head-fake in this Bible story is that, when those waiting come up on or are given that gift, it’s just a baby.
