FAQs
The Formation-Centred Coaching Microcredential is a seven-week online course that equips you to support people through purposeful, growth-focused conversations.
You will learn how coaching differs from counselling, mentoring and advice-giving, while developing practical skills in listening, asking purposeful questions, supporting goal clarity and helping people move toward meaningful action.
The course is shaped by Christian wisdom and a commitment to human flourishing. It is designed for counsellors, pastors, chaplains, teachers, ministry leaders and other people-helpers who want to add coaching skills to their existing practice.
On completion, you will receive a digital credential that can be shared on LinkedIn, social media, your email signature or professional profile.
Coaching is a process designed to help clients reach deeper levels of success and fulfillment faster and with more ease. Effective coaching inspires and helps people move beyond their comfort zones to maximise their personal and professional potential.
Christian coaching empowers people to live out their God-given purpose and calling. It develops the ability of clients to listen to their heart and to the Holy Spirit, and to take action that reshapes their life in response to that calling. Through listening and asking skillful questions, the coaching relationship produces insight, greater personal and spiritual awareness, and new, purpose-aligned actions and results.
Both coaches and counsellors are empathic and non-judgmental listeners, and both modalities require advanced listening skills and the ability to reflect whilst providing valuable and honest feedback.
However, coaching is a lot more action, performance and progress-driven, and looks at specific goals. It is focused on the present and the future: where the client is now and where he or she wants to be.
Counselling is more process-driven, and tends to focus on past issues that are holding the client back – usually by exploring early development and family of origin issues.
In coaching, there is a tendency for the coach to reframe problems into opportunities, whereas counsellors are more likely to explore particular patterns of behaviour to establish the cause of issues or problems.
Individuals and organisations engage a coach for many reasons and for support in any area of their life: career, business, personal transitions, relationships, financial, life balance, spirituality and more.
The Certificate is cutting edge, carefully crafted and biblically integrated. It is a great option for anyone who is passionate about empowering others to fully live out their calling.
We have intentionally designed the Certificate by embedding a coaching approach and principles throughout the learning journey. This helps participants to grasp the concepts, process and practice of coaching. We believe there is no better way to internalise a new process than by living it as you learn.
By the end of this course, you will have gained the skills and tools to support people in making lasting change with greater ease.
More specifically, you will be able to assist clients by:
- Recognising their strengths and assets
- Gaining clarity on values and life purpose
- Identifying and ending self-defeating habits and patterns
- Discovering what they truly want
- Uncovering the unconscious thoughts and beliefs that hold them back
Yes! We understand that balancing study, work, family and other commitments can be tricky. For that reason, we have designed the course to be completed mostly online and in just 7 weeks ( provided participants can commit to between 4 or 5 hours of study each week).
